5 Tips for Buying furniture and household appliances in Turkey
Tip No.1
Do not rush to buy furniture and household appliances at the nearest shopping center, even if it is very large. These are durable goods, so you need to understand the market first.
There are large shopping malls specializing exclusively in household goods. For example, “Eskidji Bazaar”, “Istikbal”, “Çilek”, where there is a lot of furniture from both large and small companies.
There is also a well-known Ikea brand specializing in the sale of original and ergonomic models. However, Turkey protects its producers not only by providing them with benefits, but also by imposing fairly high import duties. Therefore, Ikea in Turkey does not have low prices. Although the goods in this store are among the inexpensive ones.
One of the largest furniture manufacturers in Turkey is the Bellona company. This is high-quality furniture at fairly affordable prices. There are branded stores and departments in shopping malls.

If you choose furniture or appliances from well–known manufacturers, it is worth not only comparing prices in different stores – the difference can reach 20-30%, but also sometimes visit the websites of manufacturers or shopping centers and track discounts.
Dozens of companies can sell refrigerators of the same model at different prices in the same large shopping center. A company store is not always a guarantee of a lower price. One of the largest home appliance stores are “Media Markt”, “Teknosa”. But in such stores the price is fixed and there is no need to talk about a discount.

In addition to large shopping malls, small shops located on your street can sell household appliances. Do not neglect them – sometimes you can get a good discount from the owner there.
Do not be afraid of such purchases – equipment is supplied to small stores from the same warehouses as in large hardware stores. Questions about the delivery time of the equipment must be coordinated with the store where you purchased it, but the installation must be coordinated with the service center, whose phone number is indicated on your warranty card or in the equipment passport. You can request this phone from the seller.

Save the phone number of the service center and the barcodes with the individual product number. You should know that delivery, entry in the warranty card and warranty service sometimes do not happen here in the same way as in your homeland.
First, you make an advance payment, then, on the appointed day, the goods are delivered to your home. You are given a receipt and a warranty card with a set of printed barcodes and numbers. This is the individual number of your equipment. The service center has a mark – to whom the goods were sold and delivered, indicating the address and phone number.
When contacting the service center for questions, for example, warranty service, you will always be asked for an individual number. If the equipment requires connection, such as a washing machine or an air conditioner, you will be given a guarantee only after a representative of the service center comes to you and performs the installation.
Tip No.5
Bargain. Always and everywhere. Especially if we are talking about a large purchase for cash.
There are almost always 2 prices on the price tags in the store:
- Peşin is the price that you can get by making a cash payment
- Taksit – installment price.
When paying in cash, always ask for a discount. The author of the article, when buying curtains in the amount of $ 500, managed to get a discount of $ 100. And when buying a soft corner – 10% of its lowest cost.
