How to get back some of the money spent on purchases in Turkey
Are you familiar with the Tax-free system? Did you know that she works in Turkey?
What is tax-free?
This is a refund of VAT withheld from you when purchasing goods (it is included in the price). It is returned to you when you leave the country. BUT, no later than three months from the date of purchase.
To return the tax withheld in Turkey back, you must follow the rules.
- A receipt for a purchase in one store should show an amount of 120 Turkish lira or more.
- Purchases must be made in stores where the tax-free system itself operates, as indicated by the sign at the checkout. Or ask the cashier. As a rule, all large stores have this system.
- The seller must issue you a special check – tax-free. To do this, you will need your passport.
- This receipt contains a list of products with prices, your passport details, the purchase amount, the name and details of the store.
- The items that you take out must have labels that have not been used.
Where can I get my money?
There are special points at the port and airport – Tax free cash refund. You must first check in for your flight. At customs, you present your passport and a Tax free receipt. You may be asked to show your purchases. The Tax free receipt is stamped and then you go with it to the cash withdrawal point. Keep in mind that the VAT refund procedure takes time, so arrive in advance to receive the money and not miss your flight.
