“Şartlı giriş” (conditional entry) has been abolished in Turkey as of February 1, 2025
As of February 2025, Turkey has officially abolished the “şartlı giriş” system — conditional entry that previously allowed foreigners who violated visa rules or were denied a residence permit to re-enter the country after leaving and paying a fine. This option is no longer available: re-entry is now only possible after completing the visa quarantine period defined by nationality.
This change is especially significant for citizens of CIS countries and the Middle East, whose mobility under tourist visas previously relied on this loophole. Overstaying now leads to a ban on re-entry until the next allowable visa-free period.
Visa-free stays in 2025:
- Ukrainian citizens: up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
- Russians: up to 60 consecutive days, with a total of 90 days within 180 days.
- Belarusian citizens: up to 30 consecutive days, not exceeding 90 days per year.
- Kazakhstan: up to 30 days at a time, total of 90 days in 180 days.
- Citizens of the USA, Canada, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman: up to 90 days in 180 days.
- EU countries, UK, Ireland, and Schengen states: also up to 90 days in 180 days.
Important: your passport must be valid for at least 120 days upon entry into Turkey.
If you plan a long-term stay in Turkey, be sure to study the new residence permit requirements and visa restrictions. Re-entry is now impossible without official approval and compliance with visa rules, even with a paid fine.
We recommend carefully planning your trip and not exceeding the permitted stay to avoid temporary entry bans.
